FYI, hatch built in UK and I currently reside in a state with no front plate law.

So many cars would look better with a Euro-size plate on the front than with the more upright US-size.
Also, hot take: US plates tend to feature too many colours, graphics and strange fonts, creating a visual distraction from the car itself. That’s not really a big deal on a Toyota Corolla, but distracts from the styling purity of a sports or luxury car.

Agreed 100%!!!
Big pet peeve of mine with US plates - they make them into freaking art canvases when the purpose of a license plate is to clearly display your registration number!
These plates are so damn legible it’s not even funny. They even reflect at night since they are built to genuine specs.

Yeah but then we wouldn’t have things like this.

That’s one of the things I like about the BC plate that hasn’t changed in 30 or so years, and several other Canadian plates. They’re plain, white background, the name of the province, and the number, that’s all.
Okay I guess the provincial flag is in the middle too, I forgot about that

Looks good! Though a UK style plate might have been a better match given where it was built (now it looks very neutral though, except for people who recognise the font as German)
I actually saw a new Civic hatch and a new sedan within a week time here in the Netherlands. Which is more unique than you think, given the slow Honda sales, and the preference of hatches over sedans (most brands don’t even offer a sedan here)

Looks good, but-
Lol. British built Japanese car in America with British style front licence plate with German font.
That’s covered some of the allied and axis power countries.
We use the Charles Wright font on our licence plates.

Shouldn’t it have GB on it?
EDIT: Wait, Brexit.

In the U.K. we don’t have to have ‘GB’ on like the rest of the E.U.
If we go onto the continent then we must put a ‘GB’ on in some fashion whether it’s a licence plate one or a sticker or magnetised label.
I had these on the last car.

Agreed. I hate the US plates with graphics or colors. The California plate is at least subtle enough to not distract from the car although they’re not as subtle as the European plates.

Utah’s plates are stupid. Especially how it says “Utah!”

Lol guilty. I used customeuropeanplates.com and picked the “old style” Euro plate which I *erroneously* assumed the UK still uses for the front.

Ye’, if you drove with that font, you’ll get a fine and a ‘producer’, to get the issue corrected, then take the vehicle to a police station or vehicle inspection station to show you’ve complied.
The Charles Wright font is found to be more easily readable and standout more to people and cameras.
The German font on those plates does look good and it’s likely very very few will know the difference or that there is one.
It’s sad, but I know the font size, spacing, width of lettering, exceptions for JDM vehicles that have smaller recesses for licence plates (a smaller size plate with slightly smaller font size are allowed, but only if the vehicle was imported that way and not EDM, made to look JDM).

Has/is that changing with Brexit?
Because I notice that the EU ‘logo’ isn’t on the blue part.

I can’t see it changing. No reason to.
If we were to drive on the continent we’d have to show some national marker anyway.
It’s one of those things that’s been around for many years.
Each country had their own licence plates and way of doing things, then the E.U. standardised it and it became a lot like what we had anyway, but we didn’t like having the E.U. roundel so we are allowed a bit more freedom with what goes on the plate as long as the size, font, spacing and standards BSAU145d are followed to British standards.

Did you get two plates? Since I bought two cars at once I only bought two plates and put them in the rear. I also have to remove them after three months, otherwise I’d put them on the front like you.
I went full legit German, though.

It’s OK. Not a fan of the cursive California font. It’s hard to read, and nothing about it is uniquely Californian.

I just ordered a custom front plate for mine with my tag number. That looks legit. Golf was definitlely a second choice for me.

I really wish California didn’t have a front plate, because it would be awesome to have these on all the time.
Although, with all the cars you see without front plates you’d be mistaken for thinking we don’t have front plates. But of course I got pulled over four days after I bought my Mercedes and hadn’t even gotten a chance to go get the front plate.
